Changing Your MacTCP Settings for KWOM
Note: MacTCP is several years old, and KWOM no longer has any machines
with MacTCP installed. We believe this procedure will allow you to
access our new server, but we have not been able to test it here in our
office. Please try the steps below, and if you run into trouble,
feel free to contact us for assistance. Technical support staff are
in our office between 9 AM and 6 PM Monday through Friday, and 9 AM to
5 PM on Saturdays.
Open the 'MacTCP' Control Panel:
-
Click on the Apple icon at the top left of the Desktop screen
-
Scroll down to 'Control Panels'
-
Select 'MacTCP' from the list
Select 'TCP/IP' by highlighting it with the mouse, and releasing
the mouse button. (Note: Some users may not have to hold down the
mouse button to keep the drop-down menus open; in this case, make selections
by clicking with the mouse while the desired option is highlighted).
The MacTCP Control Panel is highlighted in the example to the right. |

Changing the 'MacTCP' settings should be very simple.
Make sure that:
-
in the top left of the window under the words 'Obtain Address' -
the button next to 'Server' is selected
-
the letter 'C' appears next to the word 'Class' in the top
right section of the window
Now, change the following information in the bottom right hand corner of
the window, under the words 'Domain Name Server Information':
-
under the column labeled 'Domain', enter kwom.com in the first box
-
replace any numbers existing IP numbers in the column labeled 'IP Address' with the New IP numbers: in the first box - 208.211.166.2 and in the second box 199.177.36.2
-
make sure the 'Default' column is marked in the first dot.
When you are done, your window should look like this last picture.
Don't worry if you have a different 'Gateway Address' - the numbers there
don't have to be all zeros. |

Congratulations! You are now set up to use KWOM's
new Internet Access services. Any windows still left open can be
closed. Click 'Save' if asked whether or not you wish to save the
changes to your settings. You should now be able to connect to KWOM.
If you cannot connect after completing these steps, and
require additional help, please call our office at (630) 942-5940.
Please double check to make sure each step was completed correctly before
calling.
As always, thank you for using KWOM Communications!
