How to Disconnect Automatically (Windows)

You can configure Windows Dial-up Networking to automatically disconnect you from KWOM when you close all programs that use the Internet, or when your Internet connection has been "idle" (no transmitted or received data) for a specified time.

1. Open Internet Explorer, and from the Tools menu select Internet Options. (or double-click on Internet Options in Control Panel)

Select the Connections tab.

2. Click once on your KWOM connection in the Dial-up settings list to highlight it, and then to the right click on the Settings button.

3. To the right of the Password box, click on the Advanced button.

4. If you want to disconnect automatically when you close the programs that are using the Internet connection, place a checkmark next to "Disconnect when connection may no longer be needed".

If you want to disconnect automatically when your Internet connection has been idle for a specified time period, place a checkmark next to "Disconnect if idle for" and set the number of minutes to your desired idle timeout.

Note that you can place checkmarks in both boxes..
